‘The secret is out – he wants to re-sign for Leeds’ – Kalvin Phillips update today
Leeds United remain interested in a potential reunion with Kalvin Phillips as he prepares to leave Man City before the transfer window closes.
That is according to former Man United and Sunderland chief scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game, as he exclusively told Football Insider that the 29-year-old’s future is expected to be resolved next month.
While there has been a lack of interest in his signature so far this summer, he has no place in Pep Guardiola’s squad and they remain keen to sell him.
This comes after Football Insider exclusively revealed that Phillips will not leave Man City until he has recovered from an achilles injury, with an August comeback likely.
Leeds are believed to have been keeping an eye on his situation at the Etihad and have long been linked with a possible reunion should an agreeable deal be reached.
Football Insider exclusively revealed on 17 March that Phillips is pushing for a return to Leeds as he is widely expected to leave Man City for good.

Leeds United plot sensational Kalvin Phillips reunion
Brown told Football Insider on 22 April that Phillips wants to return to Leeds following their promotion to the Premier League as he feels at home at Elland Road.
The former scout, who has a wealth of experience in top-level player recruitment after over a decade at Man United during their most successful period, has insisted all parties remain interested in a deal despite the lack of movement so far.
“Kalvin Phillips’ situation is still unresolved,” he told Football Insider.
“He’s gone back to City after the loan spell at Ipswich, but there doesn’t seem to be too much interest.
“I’m told Leeds are still keen on that deal, but it has to be right for them.
“He has no place at City, so they’re going to have to move him on rather than keep paying him to sit in the stands every week.
“It’s the type of deal that will probably accelerate later in the window when clubs have done most of their important business and start looking at what else is available.
“The secret is out, he’d like to go back to Leeds, he feels comfortable there and he will have the backing of the fans which can be so important.
“Leeds would like to bring him back too, but they’re addressing more important areas first.
“If we get closer to the deadline, they’ve done their major business and still have funds available, I wouldn’t be surprised if they made a move.
“So for now, just watch this space and we’ll see what happens.”

Wrexham plot move to sign Patrick Bamford
While incoming deals are still expected at Elland Road, Daniel Farke is preparing to let some of the fringe players leave before the window closes.
Brown told Football Insider on 28 July that Wrexham are plotting a move for Patrick Bamford as he is set to leave Leeds in the final month of the window.
A number of Championship clubs are believed to have been put on alert by his availability, but Wrexham hope their ambitious plans will help them beat off rivals.
Leeds, meanwhile, are looking to head in a new direction after Football Insider revealed Farke want to sign a new striker to replace Bamford and Joel Piroe.
