Celtic head into the upcoming Champions League encounter with Anderlecht on the verge of achieving Brendan Rodgers’ goal of European football in the new year.

The Hoops are three points and three goals ahead of the Belgian champions, who would need a four goal victory at Celtic Park to clinch third place in the group.

Despite unrealistic that might sound, Rodgers won’t take any chances with this match, as the Bhoys’ home record in the Champions League isn’t that impressive, with no victories since defeating Ajax in 2013.

The Hoops did defeat Anderlecht 3-0 in Belgium in September thanks to goals from Leigh Griffiths, Patrick Roberts and Scott Sinclair, and are favourites to win the return match in Glasgow.

The strongest available team will be chosen, to give Celtic the best possible opportunity of getting the three points inĀ  game in which the first goal will be vital – it’s for the Hoops then it could become a party, if it’s for Anderlecht panic could set in.

Here, Football Insider looks at three players who will be key to getting Celtic into the last 32 of the Europa League.
