Jackie McNamara has suggested that a trio of senior Celtic players will have their eye on the exit door after a lack of game time this season.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Hoops and Scotland star said that the likes of Jonny Hayes, Anthony Ralston and Jack Hendry will be wanting to play and that they could look towards moving away from Parkhead before the window slams shut.
Hendry has not featured once in either the Champions League qualifiers or early Premiership fixtures, while Hayes and Ralston have one and two appearances respectively.
McNamara suggested that the senior trio would be looking at moving away from Celtic either on loan or permanently in search of game time, claiming a new right-back is a must if Ralston does depart.
McNamara told Football Insider: “They need, if they don’t see Ralston as being competition for Elhamed, a new right-back. It depends what happens with the rest of them, if Ntcham goes do they get another midfielder? They’ve got a lot of players who aren’t featuring, the likes of Ralston, Jack Hendry, Jonny Hayes.
“They need to (get rid of some), there are too many players there who are not featuring and whether they want to go out on loan or permanently, they’ll want to go out and play.”
Of the trio, Hayes, who played as a winger and at full-back, featured the most last season with 22 appearances across all competitions.
Hendry, who has not even made a matchday squad this season, played 15 times while Ralston picked up just five appearances.
