‘They’re going for it, Liverpool can keep spending’ – Stefan Borson has news fans will love
Liverpool are ready to accelerate their signing spree as they look to agree a deal for Newcastle United star Alexander Isak.
Football Insider revealed on 28 July Liverpool are increasingly “confident” of signing Isak after making him a top target this summer.
A formal bid is expected to land at St James’ Park imminently after an initial approach was made by Arne Slot’s side two weeks ago, with Newcastle valuing their prize asset at around £150million.
The Sweden international, who registered 27 goals and six assists in 42 appearances last season, has told the Tyneside club he wants to explore a move this summer.
Finance expert Stefan Borson exclusively told Football Insider Liverpool’s squad would look “fantastic” and they would be clear favourites to retain their Premier League title if they signed Isak and a new centre-back.
He also explained Liverpool’s finances and the room they still have for new arrivals in a verdict that fans will love.
Football Insider revealed on 28 July Liverpool still have a “concrete” interest in signing Marc Guehi from Crystal Palace this summer.
The Reds have already spent around £270million in the current transfer window after signing Florian Wirtz, Hugo Ekitike, Milos Kerkez, Jeremie Frimpong, Armin Pecsi and Freddie Woodman.

Liverpool fans ‘excited’ after deals agreed
Borson insisted Liverpool have decided to “go for it” this summer following their transfer business.
He told Football Insider: “I think they can still spend.
“Clearly, they’re making a choice to really go for it. I think for their fans the signings they are making are very exciting.
“I think the squad looks brilliant. It looks good right now, but if they were to sign Isak and a centre-half as well, then the squad’s going to look fantastic.
“They would be clear favorites to win the league with those two players. I think obviously just with Isak, they’d be clear favorites.
“Whether they’re clear favorites now, maybe. We will have to see how City and Arsenal land, and whether Chelsea are too knackered after the summer or not.
“But yes, Liverpool can keep spending. They have always been able to spend. It’s always been a choice.
“There has always been a narrative that they just can’t compete. It’s always been nonsense.
“It’s always been a choice by their ownership not to aggressively compete in the transfer market.”

Liverpool plot new Anthony Gordon move
In terms of another potential incoming, Football Insider exclusively revealed on 10 July Liverpool remain interested in signing Anthony Gordon and are plotting a late-summer move to secure his signature.
Former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson told Football Insider the Reds will step up their interest in Gordon once Luis Diaz’s move to Bayern Munich is confirmed.
The Newcastle United winger has been a long-term target for Liverpool after coming close to joining the club last summer.
