Thiago Alcantara ‘guaranteed’ to leave Liverpool – sources
Thiago Alcantara is “guaranteed” to leave Liverpool this summer and will not be handed a new contract when his current deal expires, sources have told Football Insider.
Alcantara, now 33, has featured just once in all competitions this season after injury issues have seen him ruled out for large spells – something which has been a feature of his time on Merseyside.
Despite being a big fans’ favourite at Anfield, it is believed the club have moved on from him as a result of his recurring trouble with injuries.
Having joined Liverpool in 2020, his four-year deal is set to expire in the summer, with Football Insider reporting previously that the club did not expect him to remain beyond this season.
With Jurgen Klopp also set to leave the club this summer, it looks to be a time of plenty of upheaval and change at Anfield.
Liverpool star Thiago Alcantara will leave Anfield this summer
With Alcantara looking certain to leave this summer, it felt almost inevitable that his exit would come off the back of his lengthy injury absence this season which has caused plenty of frustration.
The midfielder’s hefty wage packet will be shifted from the bill, freeing up space for further investment in his position despite not bringing in any return on the £20million fee spent to bring him to Anfield four years ago.
Having helped the Reds to FA Cup and Community Shield success in 2022, while finishing as the runners-up in the Champions League where they lost the final to Real Madrid, he will not leave the club without success.

Football Insider previously reported that Thiago had tasked his agent with finding him a move away from Anfield as he approaches the end of his contract and those talks are soon expected to ramp up.
It is set to be a summer of upheaval at Liverpool with Klopp and Thiago leaving amid several other possible exits with futures up in the air, including that of Mohamed Salah, as the club enters a new era.
