‘This is horrible’ – Arsenal fans explode at Sporting after Viktor Gyokeres update
Arsenal fans have been left raging at Sporting CP after the latest update on the future of top striker target Viktor Gyokeres.
Fabrizio Romano revealed on 22 July that Man United have been offered the chance to sign the 27-year-old as negotiations with the Gunners have slowed. [via X]
This comes after former Man United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that United’s interest in Gyokeres has cooled after he made clear his desire to join Arsenal.
While the striker remains set on a move to the Emirates, negotiations with Sporting have proved to be difficult after they reportedly went back on multiple agreements.
As a result, a number of Arsenal fans have been left fuming by the ongoing saga, and have urged the club never to do business with the Portuguese giants again.
Viktor Gyokeres update emerges after new Arsenal talks
Football Insider exclusively revealed on 4 July that Arsenal were closing in on signing Gyokeres after face-to-face talks were held with Sporting in Portugal.
Gyokeres has refused to return to first-team training with his current club and is insisting he will not play for them again, with the Gunners confident a deal will be agreed.
Following that, Football Insider revealed on 7 July that Arsenal were confident they had reached an agreement to sign the striker with finishing touches being put on the deal.
However, after further delays, confusion and frustration is beginning to grow amongst supporters and undoubtably behind the scenes at the Emirates.
Mikel Arteta frustrated as Arsenal fans fume at Sporting CP
Mikel Arteta has been aiming to add a new striker to his side as they continue to build towards their ambitions of winning the Premier League title.
However, he has been left frustrated in his pursuit despite Gyokeres’ willingness to join, having rejected moves to the likes of Man United already.
Taking to social media after the latest update on his future, Arsenal fans have labelled Sporting “diabolical” and the deal “horrible” amid ongoing delays.
