Thierry Henry has heaped praise on Tottenham target Kylian Mbappe by stating that he is a player who can “go a long way in the game”.
The Daily Mirror reported in February that Spurs had joined the race to sign the highly-rated wonderkid.
The 18-year-old striker currently plays for Ligue 1 outfit Monaco in France where his performances on the domestic circuit and on the European stage have drawn the attention of the footballing world.
He scored in both legs for his club as they knocked out Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City in the Champions League in early March adding to his impressive displays in the league.
Former France international Henry delivered his verdict on the youngster and picked out what he likes about the teenager.
“My word, he is good,” Henry told French TV, as quoted by Sky Sports. “Ooh la la. I met him, and he gave me the impression that he has a good head on his shoulders. l really like watching him play. He thinks.
“When I watch him dribble, he’s thinking. He thinks when he plays and that for me is the most important thing in a player. He thinks. He uses his brain.
“Yes, he’s quick, but he’s thinking and that is the sign of a kid who can go a long way in the game.”
Mbappe has played 32 games in all competitions this season, scoring an impressive 19 goals and supplying eight assists.
During his last seven league matches, he has scored eight goals taking his tally in Ligue 1 to 12 goals in 22 matches for his free-scoring side.
This earned him his first call-up to the France squad where he made his debut by coming on as a second-half substitute during a World Cup qualifier against Luxembourg on Saturday.
Nonetheless, Mbappe has the opportunity to fire Leonardo Jardim’s side to the Ligue 1 title as they currently sit top of the table on 71 points from their 30 matches.
They are three points ahead of current champions PSG as Monaco are on course to score 100 goals for the season after finding the back of the net on 87 occasions in the league this term.
