‘This one gets done now’ – Everton to agree heavily subsidised Jack Grealish deal

Everton have been tipped to agree a £10million deal which would see Jack Grealish move to Merseyside, a top source has revealed.

The 29-year-old is expected to leave Manchester City this summer, after falling out of favour with manager Pep Guardiola in recent times.

Grealish was left out of the City’s Club World Cup squad last month, and it seems that his future lies away from the Etihad.

The Toffees are among a host of teams interested in the England international’s services, but the cost of a deal is putting a lot of clubs off.

However, Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – believes there is a way that his old side can get a deal done for Grealish.

Everton face one stumbling block to finalising Jack Grealish deal

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Wyness insisted that Everton can agree a loan deal for Grealish, where they pay Man City a fee of £10million for the season as well as a third of his £15m-a-year salary.

The former Aston Villa winger still has two years left on his current contract, so a permanent move could be difficult for David Moyes’ side to pull off.

Wyness added that he would expect City to contribute two-thirds of Grealish’s £300,000 per week wages.

He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “I think there’s a good chance that this one gets done now.

“Of course, the stumbling block will be the money at £300k a week. It’s not going to be an Everton situation like that, but we’re seeing more deals that are coming out in a formula of a higher loan fee, and then that helps the club contribute to the wages. I think that could be something that could get done.

For Jack, you could see something even between £5m and £10m for a loan fee, which would be a lot, but then again, for a season of Jack Grealish, it’d be worth it.

“At a £10m loan fee, with City contributing two-thirds of his wages, then it starts to make sense for both parties. If the player’s happy to go, which is gonna be the key here, and I think he may be, it could get it done.”

‘Leeds interested in Man City midfielder’

Meanwhile, Leeds United reportedly remain interested in a potential reunion with Kalvin Phillips as he prepares to leave Man City before the transfer window closes.

That is according to former Man United and Sunderland chief scout Mick Brown, who claims that the 29-year-old’s future is expected to be resolved next month.

This comes after Football Insider exclusively revealed that Phillips will not leave Man City until he has recovered from an achilles injury, with an August comeback likely.

Leeds are believed to have been keeping an eye on his situation at the Etihad and have long been linked with a possible reunion should an agreeable deal be reached.
