‘Thomas Frank to Tottenham being held up by one key Brentford issue’
Thomas Frank’s move from Brentford to Tottenham is being delayed by the negotiations between the two Premier League clubs.
Frank is set to join Spurs after the North Londoners sacked Ange Postecoglou on Friday, 6 June after a roller coaster of a season.
Postecoglou delivered on his promise of winning a trophy in his second season with Tottenham, via a Europa League triumph, but it wasn’t enough to keep him in his job, courtesy of woeful domestic form.
Spurs will hope that Frank’s impending arrival will steer them back to the upper echelons of the Premier League.

Brentford issue emerges in Frank negotiations with Tottenham
The 51-year-old has steered Brentford to two top-half finishes in three seasons, demonstrating his managerial class.
Meanwhile, speaking live on talkSPORT [8 June], radio host and Bees fan Natalie Sawyer revealed: “Brentford boss Thomas Frank has informed the Bees that he wants to join Tottenham.
“Frank’s camp have already held talks over terms with the Brentford boss as well as with Tottenham to give that indication that he is ready to replace Ange Postecoglou.”
Sawyer continued: “My sources have said it’s pretty much a done deal. The issue now with Brentford is negotiating who else can go with Thomas Frank.”

Brentford star Bryan Mbeumo could be a top signing for Tottenham
As reported by Sawyer, one of Brentford’s primary concerns is which of their other assets follow Frank from West London to North London.
Bryan Mbeumo stats | Premier League 2024/25 |
Appearances | 38 |
Goals | 20 |
Assists | 7 |
Tottenham could hijack Manchester United’s move for Bryan Mbeumo, who has enjoyed a stellar campaign for the Bees, scoring 20 goals and creating seven assists in 38 Premier League appearances this campaign.
After finishing just 17th in the top flight, Spurs are in desperate need of enjoying a strong summer of recruitment once they successfully appoint Frank.
Should Brentford’s negotiations with Tottenham allow the North Londoners to acquire Mbeumo, the Cameroon international could prove to be a top player in Spurs colours.
The 25-year-old could be keen to remain working with Frank, having flourished under the Dane’s stewardship, while the North London club can offer him Champions League football, unlike Man United.
Furthermore, Mbeumo arguably wouldn’t suit Ruben Amorim’s system at Old Trafford as a natural winger.
Meanwhile, Paul Robinson has tipped Mikey Moore to leave Spurs this summer in a Tottenham News exclusive.
