Thomas Frank could be sacked within hours as final call made on Tottenham failure

Tottenham appear to be on the verge of dismissing Thomas Frank after odds on his future were slashed again.

Frank was already the favourite to be sacked next in the Premier League, but another step towards a defining decision appears to have been taken.

The Dane is an incredibly unpopular man at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, and Saturday’s exit from the FA Cup has not helped his cause.

Tottenham lost 2-1 to Aston Villa and, despite showing some fight in the second half, were booed off by their fans once again.

Football Insider revealed on Saturday that Tottenham losses to Villa and West Ham would see Frank sacked, with the latter game set for this weekend.

Bookies slash Thomas Frank odds again

Many thought Frank would be a good appointment for Tottenham. The Dane had done a brilliant job with Brentford, who are now benefiting from a lot of the work he instilled.

But his time at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium has been nothing short of disastrous.

The Lilywhites had actually started well, boasting the best away record in the Premier League during the early stages of the season.

The underlying stats told a different story, however, and when the collapse eventually came, it was catastrophic.

Frank’s side have won just four of their last 17 games across all competitions, losing nine in that time and enjoying just two of those victories in the Premier League.

And having failed to win any of the previous four games, frustrations appear to be coming to the fore. Arguments with fans have broken out among players, and the Dane has been routinely booed.

With Tottenham 14th in the Premier League, decision-makers appear to finally be moving towards the call that most are expecting.

Tottenham manager Thomas Frank with betting odds

One major bookmaker has now placed Frank’s odds of being the next Premier League manager to leave at evens, ahead of Nuno Espirito Santo (7/4) and Oliver Glasner (10/1).

Frank clutching at straws with Tottenham

Frank managed to praise his side’s second half against Villa on Saturday, after they had got a goal back.

“The second half is the one we take away going forward,” he told BBC Match of the Day. “It’s what we would like to be.

“The energy, intensity, playing forward, being aggressive. We were dominating and created chances.

But he must know that just performances, at this stage, are not enough to save his job. The Dane desperately needs results, and should he not get one on Saturday, it is borderline impossible to see him remaining in charge through to Sunday.
