‘Thomas Frank has assessed Walker-Peters and made Tottenham transfer decision’

Tottenham are working on a deal to sign Southampton full-back Kyle Walker-Peters on a free transfer, according to their former scout.

Mick Brown, who also worked as the chief scout at Man United and Blackburn and remains very well-connected at his former clubs, exclusively told Football Insider that contact has been made with the 28-year-old’s agent over a move.

Spurs are keen to add more homegrown talent to their squad following their qualification for the Champions League, and Walker-Peters is seen as a good fit.

The Southampton man was with Spurs between 2015 and 2020 before leaving for St Mary’s but could be in line for a return after impressing despite his club’s dismal season.

However, Spurs are not the only club in contact with the player’s agent as a host of Premier League clubs have been placed on alert by his availability.

Brown told Football Insider as early as January that Walker-Peters would not sign a new contract with the likes of West Ham and Everton keeping tabs on his situation.

Tottenham race West Ham to sign Kyle Walker-Peters

Brown told Football Insider in March that West Ham want to sign Walker-Peters and are readying an offer for when he becomes a free agent on 1 July.

The former scout, who has a wealth of experience in top-level player recruitment after over a decade at Man United during their most successful period, insisted the full-back will field offers for a number of clubs before making his decision.

Kyle Walker-Peters was one of Southampton’s better players this season,” he told Football Insider.

“It’s no surprise clubs are looking at him on a free transfer because he’s still a Premier League level player who would add something to a number of sides.

“Tottenham know all there is to know about him, they’ve been keeping a close eye on him.

“Obviously, he’s an academy product and all of the clubs in Europe need to have those in their squad.

“Thomas Frank will have made an assessment of his current options at full-back and he feels Walker-Peters would be an upgrade on what he’s got.

“On a free transfer, I hear they’re going to look into it because it’s a good opportunity.

“They will be speaking to his agent about what his demands are in terms of playing time and wages.

“But they won’t be the only ones, all of the interested clubs will make contact with his agent if they haven’t already to see what it would take.

“Tottenham would probably be his best option, but it will come down to what he wants to do.”

Antoine Semenyo update emerges after £70m Bournemouth plan

Walker-Peters is not the only Premier League player Spurs could look to add to their squad amid interest in Bournemouth star Antoine Semenyo.

Football Insider revealed on 23 June that Bournemouth will demand £70million for Semenyo, but have put plans in place in case he does leave the Vitality Stadium.

This comes after Dean Huijsen joined Real Madrid, while Milos Kerkez is expected to sign for Liverpool and Ilya Zabarnyi remains a key target for Paris Saint-Germain.

This comes after Football Insider revealed on 15 June that Tottenham want to sign Semenyo but it will not be an easy deal for them to pull off.
