‘Thomas Frank is a great choice by Tottenham – listen to the Brentford players’

Tottenham should look to appoint Brentford boss Thomas Frank as their new manager following the sacking of Ange Postecoglou.

Speaking on a new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, former Spurs goalkeeper Paul Robinson claimed that the Dane would fit in well if he takes charge of the North London club.

Football Insider exclusively revealed last Sunday that Tottenham had made the decision to sack Postecoglou after two years in charge of the club.

Despite ending Spurs’ long wait for a trophy with victory in the Europa League final last month, a dismal 17th place finish in the Premier League this season was too much for chairman Daniel Levy to overlook.

As a result, it was confirmed on Friday (6 June), that Postecoglou had been relieved of his duties as Tottenham manager.

Thomas Frank backed to be a Tottenham success

With Spurs having been preparing for a change of manager for some time, Football Insider previously revealed that Brentford boss Frank is in pole position to take over at Tottenham.

Given Postecoglou‘s exit has now been confirmed, they are moving quickly to get a new manager in place.

On Saturday (7 June), Football Insider revealed that Tottenham are confident of appointing Frank as their new manager, with a hope to get their new man in place by next week.

Robinson also believes that a move to bring the 51-year-old to Spurs would be the right move for club to make.

“I’d like Thomas Frank. I think he’s an outstanding character.” the former England international told Football Insider while discussing potential replacements for Postecoglou.

“I think he deserves an opportunity at the top level. I think he’s loyal to Brentford. The things you hear about him, the two times that I’ve met him in a media capacity, I’ve been thoroughly impressed with him, the way that he handles himself.

“And when you listen to what the Brentford players say about him personally, knowing them individually, knowing their families, and the relationship that he has with his players, I think he would be a good fit.”

Brentford preparing for manager exit

Tottenham will be given further hope that they can complete this appointment quickly, by the latest moves being made by Frank‘s current club.

As revealed by Football Insider, Brentford are plotting a move for Ipswich Town manager Kieran McKenna, as they line up a replacement for the Dane.

The Bees therefore look to be bracing themselves for the departure of Frank, giving Tottenham even more hope they will be able to get the man they want to take over from Postecoglou.
