Thomas Frank sack verdict amid Tottenham ‘uncertainty’ – ‘it worries me considerably’
Thomas Frank has had to deal with increased instability at Tottenham since the departure of executive chairman Daniel Levy.
That is according to ex-Everton, Aston Villa, and Aberdeen chief executive Keith Wyness, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, who says Spurs must be “aligned on the same way forward” to succeed.
Levy stepped down as Spurs’ executive chairman after 25 years in September, and the club will now conduct an accounting review into his tenure.
Spurs are set to hire Carlos Raphael Moersen as their new director of football operations, leading to more change above Frank ahead of the upcoming January transfer window.
‘Competing visions’ not helping Tottenham
Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – states the January transfer window is important for Frank.
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast, Wyness says Spurs are becoming more unstable.
He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “I think the uncertainty is impacting him. Before I thought that Frank was the right manager, and I thought Daniel’s gone, and I thought the Lewis family would give him some stability. But it’s actually turning out to be a little bit more unstable than I imagined.
“And I think there may well be jockeying for position within the club and no clear direction, which is desperately needed. But I still rate Frank. I think they should stick with him, and they’ve got to, but, you know, the squad needs some strengthening, certainly, and he’s got to put his stamp on the squad.
“But it’s who’s helping him do that, and are they all aligned on the same way forward, or are they competing visions? That seems to be what’s happening, and that would worry me considerably.”

Tottenham’s January plans revealed
Spurs want to sign a new striker and a winger in the January window, whilst there could also be departures from north London.
Brennan Johnson is likely to leave, with Crystal Palace, Brentford and Ipswich all chasing the 24-year-olds signature.
Spurs could allow Richarlison to leave the club, although the Brazilian is their top scorer with seven Premier League goals this season.
