Thomas Tuchel: ‘Unbelievable’ manager tipped to end Man United trophy drought after source’s Friday’ reveal

Thomas Tuchel will bring trophies back to Man United if he is appointed as the club’s new manager.

That’s according to former Leeds United stopper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the club’s ongoing manager hunt.

A Man United source told Football Insider on Friday (11 March) the club are set to “go all out” to lure Tuchel from Chelsea at the end of the season.

Chelsea

The club’s hierarchy see the 48-year-old as “by far the best candidate” and want to take advantage of the crisis at Chelsea.

Roman Abramovich was sanctioned by the UK government on 10 March, casting uncertainty on the club’s immediate future.

If Tuchel becomes available, Kenny insists he is the right man to take the reigns at Old Trafford.

“He’s proved what a great manager he is,” Kenny told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“What he did at Chelsea last season was unbelievable. That team was not close to winning the Champions League before he arrived.

“Then they have gone on and won the Club World Cup. It’s just brilliant.

“It’s no surprise that Man United want him to come in. We don’t know what’s happening at Chelsea.

“The whole thing is changing every day so we have no idea what might happen.

“If Tuchel becomes available, there are few better managers out there than him.

“He’s the one who would back to bring trophies back.”

Man United

Tuchel replaced Frank Lampard at Chelsea in January 2021.

He has won the UEFA Super Cup with the club as well as his successes in the Champions League and Club World Cup.

In other news, Kieran Maguire has revealed Man United have forced the Premier League’s hand as a £41m deal is terminated.
