McLean has long been linked with a move to Ibrox and could put agree a pre-contract deal with the Light Blues shortly after telling Aberdeen he plans to leave in the summer.
Rangers are maybe a bit heavy on numbers in central midfield with Ryan Jack, Graham Dorrans, Jordan Rossiter, Jason Holt and Ross McCrorie featuring in the middle of the park so far this season.
The ex-St. Mirren star could still be a good signing and McInnes has definitely got more than his money’s worth out of the midfielder at Pittodrie.
The stunning playmaker is boyhood Rangers fan so wouldn’t likely take much convincing to swap Pittodrie for Ibrox.
