It has been a very hard week for Rangers and Derek McInnes’ decision to stay at Aberdeen on Thursday has forced the Ibrox board in a difficult situation once more.
They deliberated long and hard about who would replace Pedro Caixinha and after being denied permission to talk to McInnes and have now found themselves back at square one, but without their No 1 target to focus on.
Interim manager Graeme Murty is going to continue as Gers boss, until the end of the year, which buys the board a bit more time to assess candidates.
The Gers are currently in a tight battle with Aberdeen and Hibs for second place in the Scottish Premiership, and they wont want to relinquish that position anytime soon, which is why it is so important that they have contingency plans lined up.
