Three defensive midfielders Leeds could sign this summer to replace overrated first teamer
COMMENT by Amir Mir
Garry Monk will be looking to add more quality and depth to his Leeds squads in the summer, whether they are in the Premier League or the Championship.
One position that needs to be looked at is the central defensive midfield role, a position that will definitely need that added quality if the Whites secure promotion.
First team regular Liam Bridcutt has struggled in the top flight before and will need competition for his place.
Here, Football Insider looks at three players CDM’s the club could target this summer to help enhance that midfield role.
Tom Huddlestone – The experienced midfielder is currently playing for relegation-threatened Hull City in the Premier League. His club’s possible relegation from the top flight will see a number of managers vie for his signature in the summer. Monk should target the former Spurs man because he has the passing ability needed for the top flight added with defensive solidity.

James McCarthy – He is currently out of the first-team picture under Ronald Koeman at Everton and it won’t be a surprise to see him leave the club in the summer. Once again another player with experience, who would thrive with a team like Leeds in the top flight. A manager like Monk would give him the freedom which would bring the best out of the highly technical player.
Jack Cork – Once again another player, with quality, that could suffer relegation with his club. Cork is a Monk type of player, tidy on the ball and someone who would not cost much. Regardless of what division the Whites are in, Cork is a player they should target because he is of much better quality than the overrated Briducutt.
In other Leeds news, David Prutton believes this pair were unlucky to miss out on the team of the season.
