Leeds United are in familiar territory as they begin the search for their eighth manager in the last four years after giving Thomas Christiansen the boot on Sunday night.
The 44-year-old lasted eight months and 35 matches at the helm but has paid the price for a ruinous run of results that has left United 10th in the Championship table and seven points adrift in the play-off race.
With 16 league matches remaining, the Leeds hierarchy hope that the appointment of a new manager will give the team a kickstart and prompt a revival that can take them all the way to the holy grail of the Premier League.
Much of the focus in recent days has been on Christiansen’s coaching and how he has failed to get the best out of a squad cobbled together on a budget dwarfed by many of United’s promotion-chasing rivals.
But the players under his command must also take responsibility for the post-Christmas meltdown that ended up with the Danish-born Spaniard taking the bullet.
Football Insider has analysed three Leeds players who have flopped badly under Christiansen, including a 26-year-old who has cost the club a huge amount of money.
