Football Insider analyses three Leeds players that have been promoted to the Premier League in the past as Garry Monk’s side chase a return to the top flight.
Chris Wood – (Leicester 2013/14)
Leeds forward Chris Wood tasted promotion success with Leicester as they romped to the Championship title with 102 points. He made 29 appearances across all competitions, scoring eight goals and supplying six assists. Wood was competing for a starting place alongside the likes of Jamie Vardy, David Nugent and Martyn Waghorn under then manager Nigel Pearson. He went on to make seven appearances in the Premier League with Leicester before eventually moving to Elland Road. Wood, 24, is Leeds’ star forward this season and is hoping to fire them to promotion, with 12 goals in 22 appearances already.
Rob Green – (Norwich 2003/04, West Ham 2011/12, QPR 2013/14)
Leeds’ number one goalkeeper Rob Green has great experience of promotion from England’s second-tier and has achieved it on three occasions already. The 36-year-old was a league champion with Norwich and went up via the play-offs with both West Ham and QPR. The Whites are currently fourth-placed and occupying a play-off position and are are seven points adrift of the automatic spot. Green has given Leeds a huge amount of experience and knows how to deal with the pressure of a promotion campaign. The Leeds supporters are growing increasingly excited about a return to the Premier League and Green will be able to keep the players grounded.

Eunan O’Kane – (Bournemouth 2014/15)
Leeds central midfielder Eunan O’Kane helped Bournemouth win the Championship title under manager Eddie Howe as the club were promoted to England’s top flight for the first time in their history. The 26-year-old made made 17 appearances across all competitions and went on to feature 16 times for Bournemouth in the Premier League. He moved to Elland Road in the summer and has emerged as an important player in the club’s midfield. O’Kane has formed a good partnership alongside Kalvin Phillips and will be hoping to taste promotion success for a second time, this time with Leeds.
