Three left-backs Leeds should line up to replace Charlie Taylor if he leaves
COMMENT By Dominic Toner
Leeds could be on the brink of losing defender Charlie Taylor in the summer and should begin to draw up a shortlist of potential replacements.
The Daily Mail report that Stoke are keeping close tabs on the 23-year-old, whose contract is set to expire at the end of the season.
The Guardian reported in January of strong interest in the left-back from West Brom, Middlesbrough and Crystal Palace, but says that £7million offers were knocked back.
Garry Monk’s side will be unable to stop Taylor leaving in the summer when his deal is up and the Yorkshire giants would be losing one of their most highly rated players.
They do have full-back Gaetano Berardi already in their squad and he has filled in well at left-back this season, but he should not be seen as the long-term solution.

Here, Football Insider looks at three left-back that the Whites should consider as alternatives in the upcoming window.
Middlesbrough defender George Friend would certainly be a good alternative to Taylor and has been an impressive player during recent seasons. The 29-year-old is fighting relegation this season and has been one of the club’s most consistent performers. He is an all round solid left-back, who has both attacking and defensive strengths to his game. Leeds could be handed an extra boost if Boro get relegated this season as Monk could offer him a fresh start at Elland Road. He helped Boro achieve promotion from the Championship and his experience in the top flight during the current season would be a huge asset to the squad.
Leeds could consider a bold move for Bournemouth ace Charlie Daniels, who has been important during their time in the Premier League. The 30-year-old is an ever-present under Eddie Howe and has made 25 appearances this season, chipping in with three goals and three assists. He would be able to fill the attacking void left by Taylor and has a strong set-piece delivery. Monk would need to bring in some quality players if they were promoted to the Premier League and consistent performer Daniels would be a great swoop. He has been with Bournemouth since 2012 and would surely be pricey, but they should consider investing in Daniels for next season.
Leeds could plot a realistic move for Liverpool youngster Joe Gomez, who is currently struggling to break into the first team. The Whites would be able to offer the 19-year-old regular football and the chance to work with brilliant man-manager Monk. Gomez is regarded as a centre-back by trade, but has played in left-back on numerous occasions, including when he enjoyed a brief spell in the Premier League starting XI in 2015. Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp will surely want the young Englishman to develop his game and Leeds could be a great platform for him to improve.
