Why these are three most likely players to quit Celtic this month
By Emma Sanders
Football Insider selects the three players who are most likely going to leave Celtic in the January transfer window.
Efe Ambrose
The defender has made 113 league appearances for Celtic but he has played just twice since Brendan Rodgers took over. The Scottish Sun claim he has confirmed talks with Marseille and it’s likely he will complete a move in the January window given he is no longer considered a key squad member at Celtic. His last appearance came in the Champions League qualification match against Astana in July and he is out of contract next summer.
Nadir Ciftci
Like Ambrose, Ciftci has not featured since July and it has been made clear he is considered surplus to Rodgers this season. The Scottish Sun claim the 24-year-old has been told he can leave in January and with his future at Celtic seemingly over, it’s unlikely he will opt to leave on loan. The club are believed to be keen to seal a permanent deal despite spending £1.5 million on him last summer.

The former English Championship star has been overlooked by Rodgers and was sent out on loan to Hibernian in December. He’s made three appearances for them already and scored a crucial winning goal in the 2-1 victory against Falkirk on New Year’s Eve. It’s unlikely he will appear for Celtic again and though his loan spell has just begun, Hibs could look to seal a permanent deal in the transfer window as his loan agreement is set to last until just 15th January.
