Rangers interim manager Graeme Murty has confirmed that director of football Mark Allen has full responsibility for identifying the Gers’ transfer targets in January – so could the former Man City Academy boss swoop on his old club?
Allen joined the Ibrox side in the summer after running City’s youth programme and could look to bring some of his former charges to Ibrox – either temporarily or on a permanent deal – in January.
With no full-time Ibrox manager, Allen has full control over the club’s transfers in January while City have sent a lot of promising young talent north of the border in recent years with Vladimir Weiss, Aaron Nemane, Patrick Roberts and Jason Denayer plying their trade for one of of the Old Firm sides.
The Gers are almost certain to have to strengthen their squad for the second-half of the season and with no manager on the horizon, there’s a real possibility Rangers only look to bring in players on short-term moves.
Here, Football Insider looks at three dazzling young Man City players likely to be available and looking for first team football who Mark Allen can lure to Ibrox.
