Newcastle United were unable to extend what had been an impressive run of form as they suffered defeat to Brighton on Sunday.
The Magpies had tasted success in their last three games but a disjointed performance saw them slip to a 1-0 defeat thanks to a Tomer Hemed goal.
It was not the same sort of showing that the Toon Army had become accustomed to, with their usual resolute spirit replaced by a nervy display.
Even Matt Ritchie, who has been the Magpies’ talisman with his wing play and set piece prowess, was unable to lift the side, with several of the Newcastle stars under-performing.
With their next outing coming as a huge clash against Liverpool at St James’ Park on Sunday, boss Rafael Benitez will need to sort out his side if he has any chance of securing a result over his former side.
As such, Football Insider has identified three Newcastle players who should be axed from the starting XI after their performances against the Seagulls, including one man who is yet to miss a minute of league action.
