Celtic £15,000-a-week ace set for exit door, report names three players lined up to replace him

By Richard Parks

Tom Rogic is likely to quit Celtic in the summer because the club already have three players lined up to replace him, according to a report.

The Daily Record claim that the attacking midfielder, 25, is “dithering” over whether to extend his contract following talks with Hoops chiefs.

Rogic has a deal with the Scottish champions that runs until the summer of 2019 and his future is shrouded in doubt amid speculation he has rejected an extension.

The Record report that Celtic have three players in the current squad who could replace Rogic, namely Callum McGregor and Charly Musonda, who is on an 18-month loan from Chelsea.

Manager Brendan Rodgers will also be able to call upon Ryan Christie next season when he returns from his loan spell at Aberdeen.

Rogic has struggled with injuries this season but demonstrated his calibre with the first Celtic equaliser in their 3-2 win over Rangers two weekends ago and has scored five goals and supplied eight assists from 32 appearances in all competitions in 2017-18.

Since joining the club in 2014, the player has scored 27 goals and supplied 22 assists from 123 Celtic appearances.

The Daily Star report that Rogic earns £15,000-a-week at Celtic.

Football Insider verdict:

Of the trio lined up to step in for Rogic, none are of his quality. Indeed, few in Scottish football can match the dazzling feet and skill of the Australia international, who is a huge favourite of supporters who love his ability to score wonder goals and rise to the big occasion. Celtic have a strong squad and plenty of attacking talent, but Rogic is a unique player who will be very hard to replace.

In other Celtic news, with the deal already done, 14-goal and 12-assist attacker will arrive at Parkhead on 28 April.
