Leeds are hopeful that they will be competing in the Premier League next season as they strive for promotion from the Championship.
The Whites are fourth-placed in the league table and are likely to be in the play-offs at the end of the season.
Garry Monk will surely be looking to bolster his squad in the summer, regardless of which division they are playing in.
Here, Football Insider looks at three players Leeds should consider bringing in as their contracts are set to expire in the summer.
Leeds do already have some impressive full-backs in their ranks with the likes of Luke Ayling, Gaetano Berardi and Charlie Taylor. However, they have no Premier League experience between them and their inexperience would be a real concern if the club was promoted. Glen Johnson would be the ideal candidate to move to Elland Road and bolster the options. The 32-year-old is due to leave Stoke at the end of the season, but he has proved he is still good enough for the top-flight. He was included in Gareth Southgate’s squad as recent as 2016 and is well experienced in the Premier League, winning it twice with Chelsea. Johnson would be a smart piece of business by Monk if he could convince him to join the Yorkshire giants.
Leeds could consider a move for Burnley ace George Boyd if they get promoted as he is another player that has been a regular in the top-flight this season. The right winger has missed just one league game this campaign and is regarded as an important player for the Clarets. If he is to leave Turf Moor in the summer, then Monk should definitely swoop for a hard working player. The only real problem position for the Whites this season has been on the wing, where Monk has rotated constantly with options in his squad. Boyd would certainly be able to compete for a starting position and bring some top-level experience to the side. The 31-year-old is certainly still good enough for the Premier League and Elland Road could be a good fit for him.
One of Leeds’ major successes this season has been veteran Rob Green, who is likely to be the number one goalkeeper next season. The 37-year-old has proved to be a match winner on a number of occasions and is showing no signs of slowing down despite his age. They currently have Marco Silvestri as their back-up, but will need greater competition in the Premier League. West Ham shot stopper Adrian could become available in the summer as his contract runs down and would be a great signing for Monk. The 30-year-old has lost his spot to Darren Randolph this season, but has racked up 118 appearances for West Ham. The Spaniard would be able to push Green for a starting position and would hugely improve the squad’s options.
In other Leeds transfer news, they have joined the chase to sign a Rangers forward.
