Rangers underwent a huge overhaul of their playing squad during the summer with 11 new faces joining the Ibrox giants.

To make room for these signings, Pedro Caixinha managed to ship 12 of his squad out – with quite a few penning temporary deals – as he made it perfectly clear that some of last season’s under-performing squad had no future at Ibrox.

While the likes of Joe Garner, Barrie McKay, Rob Kiernan and Martyn Waghorn are gone never to return a number of players have also left the club on loan over the summer in a brutal move from Caixinha.

With Rangers looking like they might finally be close to appointing a new manager, whoever takes the reins on a long-term basis is going to have to make a proper assessment of what he has available to him before delving into the transfer market and embarking on what is likely to be Rangers’ fourth complete squad re-build in four years.

With a number of players forced to either the fringes of the squad or shipped out on loan elsewhere, could a new manager decide that any of Caixinha’s outcasts have a long-term future at Ibrox?
