Rangers manager Graeme Murty embarked on a huge rebuild of the squad he inherited from Pedro Caixinha in the January transfer window with six new faces arriving at Ibrox – leaving some of the Gers’ fringe players fighting for their Ibrox future.

The signings of Sean Goss, Jamie Murphy, Russell Martin, Jason Cummings, Greg Docherty and Glenn Middleton have left the Gers with a bloated squad and forced a number of stars down the pecking order.

Murty and director of football Mark Allen will have a major job on their hands keeping everyone in the first-team squad at Ibrox happy and it’s likely some of those on the sidelines will be seriously considering their future with the Glasgow giants.

With the Light Blues trying to secure second place in the Scottish Premiership and attempt to lift the Scottish Cup before the end of the season, Murty’s side will need to be at their best throughout and it appears that the Gers boss has a preferred starting XI already.

Some of Murty’s fringe stars have been lucky that injuries to a number of the Gers’ established first-team stars have given them opportunities to try to win their places back with varying degrees of success.
