Leeds face Cardiff at Elland Road on Saturday afternoon in what should be a routine victory for Garry Monk’s outfit.
The Yorkshire giants are sat as high as fifth place in the league table, while the Bluebirds are 12 positions behind in 17th.
However, as Championship fans know nothing is definite in the English second tier and Football Insider have selected three reasons as to why Leeds must be wary of a shock defeat:
Manager Neil Warnock alongside defensive duo Lee Peltier and Sol Bamba will all be looking to prove a point after being let go by Leeds in recent years.
Controversial boss Warnock lost his job in April 2013, while Peltier had his contract terminated just one year later.
Ivory Coast international Bamba was the most the recent as he left the club by mutual consent as the Yorkshire giants’ captain a day after the previous summer’s transfer deadline.
All three will be looking to up their usual standards at Elland Road and they will be performing a lot better than individuals in a relegation battling side.
Leeds have won their last three meeting against Cardiff without conceding a goal, but before that the Bluebirds were unbeaten in 17 encounters between the pair, winning 12 of them.
Additionally, the Welsh team have lost just once at Elland Road in eight fixtures, putting them in good stead for Saturday’s clash.
Some teams struggle to beat their competitors no matter what the form is and Cardiff would seemingly appear to be a bogey side for the Yorkshire giants.
Now this is not from Cardiff’s behalf, but could still play a part in handing Warnock’s team all three points on Saturday afternoon.
Leeds have sold over 30,000 tickets for the clash and many fans will be of the mindset that they should record a routine victory against the Bluebirds.
However, if it is looking bad at half time or before then the fans could start to get on the players back, causing them to play even worse.
Leeds’ three matches with over 30,000 fans this season has brought mixed results with 3-0 and 2-0 victories over Rotherham and Aston Villa alongside a 2-0 defeat against Newcastle.
Supporters will now be hoping to see a similar result to that against the Millers and Villa.
In other Leeds news, the Whites should sign this available Premier League sensation if they get promoted.
