Three reasons why Tottenham will smash Chelsea in crucial Premier League showdown

COMMENT by Amir Mir

Tottenham take on Chelsea on Wednesday evening at White Hart Lane in what will be a crucial Premier League showdown.

Football Insider debates the three reasons why Spurs can smash Antonio Conte’s 13 game winning streak.

The danger of Harry Kane

The England international has scored three goals in six games against Chelsea, but more importantly three goals in his last two league games. On his day, Kane can cause havoc to any defensive backline and he will be looking to do that against the Premier League leaders. Whether he is working the channels or providing an aerial threat, Kane will be key to the home team picking up a valuable three points.

The north London club are unbeaten at White Hart Lane this season, winning seven of their nine league fixtures on home soil. Mauricio Pochettino’s side have recorded wins against the likes of Manchester City and West Ham. This will no doubt play a big part during the encounter against Chelsea. Spurs will know scoring that first goal in front of their own support, just like they did in the reverse fixture, will help them pick up the win.

Kyle Walker and Danny Rose

A lot has been made of the Chelsea system under Antonio Conte, in particular, the threat from the flanks. Full-back duo Walker and Rose will be severely tested on Wednesday night, knowing a top quality performance can see their side to victory. They have the pace and ability to stop the attacking threat the Blues will possess, as well as providing the service to the likes of Kane from the wide areas.
