27-year-old back with a bang: Three things we expect from West Ham against Swansea
COMMENT By Matt Bullin
West Ham take on Swansea on Saturday at the London Stadium in what could be a huge decider on the relegation battle this season.
Here are three things that Football Insider expects from the Premier League encounter.
Sakho back with a bang
West Ham’s 27-year-old Senegalese striker returned as a substitute against Arsenal when he replaced Andy Carroll to make his first appearance since November. Sakho has had an injury-blighted season and has only featured three times – but he has scored once. The versatile front man scored seven goals in his 24 league and cup appearances last season, and the season before that he netted 10 times in the Premier League in 23 games. This would be the perfect time to fire himself back into first-team contention and there aren’t many better times than at home against a leaky Swansea side.

Both West Ham and Swansea conceded three in their last games and both are on torrid runs. The Hammers have lost five on the bounce in the Premier League and have not won since early February when they beat Southampton 3-1. West Ham have just one clean sheet since the turn of the year – and it came in the opening game of 2017. Meanwhile the Swans are without a win in four, and despite keeping a clean sheet against Middlesbrough last weekend, they have only kept five all season.
Crucial game for both sides
Reports have claimed that if West Ham lose on Saturday Bilic will get the sack, while Swansea could escape the drop zone if they take three points. With a win the Hammers will go eight points clear of Swansea, taking a huge step away from the relegation places, but if Swansea win they will likely climb away from the bottom three and will be just two points behind Bilic’s side. The outcome of this match holds massive importance to both sides.
