Seeing Dwight Gayle squander a glorious chance in the first-half would have had most Newcastle fans thinking the same thing – ‘Mitro would’ve scored that.’
It’s odd that Benitez did not give Aleksandar Mitrovic more chances to shine in the Premier League.
He was on fire for Serbia before it was decided he could go out on loan to Fulham in January and it was even more bizarre when the injured Islam Slimani was picked up to replace him.
Mitrovic is banging them in for Fulham in the Championship and surely would have been a much better option up front than Gayle or Joselu.
