Mainstay must be axed ahead of Old Firm: Three things learned from Celtic win v Aberdeen

Celtic moved 11 points clear at the top of the Scottish Premiership after a 3-0 win over Aberdeen at Parkhead on Saturday.

Brendan Rodgers made a few changes to his team from the side which defeated Partick in midweek, bringing in Olivier Ntcham, Moussa Demeble and perhaps surprisingly Jonny Hayes, to play against his former side.

The game was very physical at times, with Aberdeen playing into challenges.

Both sides missed good chances early on, Gary Mackay-Steven robbing Dedryck Boyata but dragging his shot wide, then Scott Sinclair was through on goal but Joe Lewis saved.

The Hoops took the lead in the 40th minutes, a Mikael Lustig shot from the edge of the box deflected past Lewis by Dominic Ball.

Celtic then conspired to miss a host of chances in the second-half, Dembele in particular guilty of missing some great chances.

Jonny Hayes then scored his first goal for the Hoops in the 69th minute to put the Celts in control.

Olivier Ntcham then took advantage of a McLean error to make it 3-0 as the Hoops went eight points clear.
