Rodgers gets major decision wrong: Three things learned about Celtic in loss v Bayern Munich

Celtic need a new central defender

Halfway through October and the number of defensive partnerships Celtic have played this season has already probably reached double figures.

Against Bayern it was Cristian Gamboa, Mikael Lustig, Dedryck Boyata and Kieran Tierney – and it simply wasn’t up to standard.

Injuries have forced reshuffles time and again but much of Celtic’s problems could have been solved by signing a new defender.

That weren’t helped when the proposed signing of Rivaldo Coetzee from South African’s Ajax Cape Town fell through over a failed medical.

With the Champions League riches Celtic have earned a new, fit defender shouldn’t have been too much for Celtic fans to expect over the summer.
