Celtic suffered a humiliating 7-1 defeat at the hands of Paris Saint-Germain in Paris on Wednesday night as Brendan Rodgers’ side endured another European horror show.
The Hoops have lost by the same scoreline now in successive Champions League campaigns under Rodgers – having conceded seven goals twice in their history prior – and actually opened the scoring in the Parc des Princes through Moussa Dembele.
The Scottish champions can still qualify for the knockout stage of the Europa League if they avoid defeat to Anderlecht at Celtic Park in two weeks.
While nobody was expecting the Hoops to take anything from a side who had yet to concede a goal in the Champions League this season, the result isn’t the ideal preparation for Sunday’s Scottish League Cup final with Motherwell.
Rodgers will struggle to find any positives to take from an abject performance in Paris against a side who will be expected to go far in the competition.
