Football Insider analyses three talking points from Chelsea’s 2-1 win against West Ham at the London Stadium on Monday evening.

Fabregas must be dropped

This Chelsea team is extremely strong and it may be unfair to pick out any negatives. However, Cesc Fabregas is currently the weak link in the midfield due to his inconsistency. The 29-year-old Spain international blows hot and cold and on Monday it was a poor dispay from him. He failed to complete any killer passes at the London Stadium and his defensive play is often lacking. Nemanja Matic may be a better option in the centre of the park for the run in and Fabregas should be the one to fall out.

Cahill is unsung hero

Gary Cahill so often does a fantastic job in the defence. However, he is very rarely mentioned along the lines of the Premier League’s best. The 31-year-old centre-back made sure he dealt with the aerial threat of Andy Carroll well and he often came out the winner when the two met. In a team which sees Eden Hazard, N’Golo Kante and Diego Costa getting all the plaudits, Cahill is the unsung hero.

Chelsea’s to lose

Chelsea are showing no signs of giving up the top spot and with 10 points currently between them and second placed Tottenham with 11 matches to go, it is the Blues’ to lose. The chasing pack seem to lack the consistency and skill level that Antonio Conte’s men possess and after Monday’s victory it is now felt that only mistakes from Chelsea themselves will stop them from claiming another Premier League title.

In other Chelsea news, Frank Lampard believes this exceptional Tottenham player gives them an edge in the title race.
