Poch must axe one, bring one in from cold: Three things we learned from Tottenham win v Stoke
Tottenham moved to within one point of fourth-placed Liverpool in the Premier League table with an emphatic 5-1 victory over Stoke City at Wembley Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
Spurs took the lead on 21 minutes when Stoke defender Ryan Shawcross converted Son Heung-min’s cross into his own net. The attacking midfielder then made it 2-0 shortly after the break with a clinical finish after a fine pass by Dele Alli.
Kane then made up for missing a first-half chance with a header from left-back Ben Davies’ cross and then fired home a fourth, as Spurs caused mayhem with three goals in 12 second-half minutes.
The magnificent Son then played in Christian Eriksen who made it 5-0, before Shawcross redeemed himself by pulling one back for the Potters late on.
Spurs move above Arsenal into fifth place in the Premier League table, with their north London rivals in action tomorrow against Southampton.
