Poch must axe one, bring one in from cold: Three things we learned from Tottenham win v Stoke

Spurs have turned a corner

There was a huge sense of disappointment around Wembley after the 1-1 draw with West Brom a fortnight ago all but ended Tottenham’s hopes of a first Premier League title. The midweek Champions League win against Apoel seemed to re-energise the players and though they made a slow start against Stoke, this was the match where it all came together perfectly. Spurs ran riot in the second half with three goals in 12 devastating minutes and totally outclassed Mark Hughes’ side in every area of the pitch. Though they are still behind Liverpool in the race to finish in the top-four, Tottenham appear to have turned the corner after a run of frustrating results. After this performance, Mauricio Pochettino’s side can go into the clash with Brighton on Wednesday full of confidence and look to make it back-to-back Premier League victories.
