Rafa has transformed much-maligned 26-yr-old: Three things learned in Newcastle win v Leicester

COMMENT

Newcastle United all but confirmed their Premier League status for next season with an impressive 2-1 win against Leicester at the King Power Stadium on Saturday.

Jonjo Shelvey and Ayoze Perez were both on the scoresheet for the Magpies while Jamie Vardy’s second-half goal was not enough to secure a comeback for the East Midlands club.

The Magpies are now on 38 points and although the 40 point mark has always been the goal to reach for those trying to avoid relegation, with six games to play, Rafa Benitez’s side are now 10 points clear of the drop zone in 10th place.

Leicester had a number of penalty shouts, especially in the first half.

However the referee was never interested as the Magpies really left their mark on the home sides’ players in a real traditional-style game.
