Leeds United earned their first win in 2018 with a solid 1-0 triumph over Brentford at Elland Road on Saturday.
Liam Cooper’s first-half header meant that manager Paul Heckingbottom enjoyed a winning feeling for the first time in four games since taking charge of the Yorkshire giants.
Cooper put Leeds ahead into the 32nd minute with a brilliant glancing header.
Ezgjan Alioski was back in the starting line-up after scoring off the bench at Derby on Wednesday, and the Macedonia international’s free kick was beautifully met by Cooper, who headed the ball into the visitors’ net.
Felix Wiedwald was in good form for the Whites, making a number of saves to ensure that Heckingbottom and his men earned a solid clean sheet after conceding 10 goals in their last four matches.
It was a great win for the Whites, who have now put themselves in contention for reaching the play-offs once again.
