Determination trumps talent

There will be very little argument that Leeds were the more talented side when the two teams kicked off, but it was Burton’s determination which saw them take a first half lead.

They were resolute and driven to repel a potent attack from the Whites, and when frustration kicked in for Thomas Christiansen’s men, it was that grit which saw the home side open the scoring.

Leeds knew they had the ability to overcome Burton but they allowed themselves to become sloppy, thinking talent alone would be enough to secure victory.

They took a page out of the home side’s book in the second half, showing much more drive and determination and, low and behold, they managed to grind out a well worked win.
