Leeds United’s wait for a first win in 2018 continued as Derby County earned a late 2-2 draw at Pride Park on Wednesday night.
Ezgjan Alioski came off the bench to score what seemed to be the winning goal, but Kasey Palmer’s stoppage time finish managed to rescue a point for Gary Rowett and his men.
Pierre-Michel Lasogga gave Leeds a shock lead when he bundled home a cross from Stuart Dallas in the 34th minute.
Derby continued to push forward, forcing the away side’s backline into making several mistakes.
The Rams’ breakthrough came just before half-time when a defensive mix-up meant that Andreas Weimann was able to find the net.
The introduction of Samuel Saiz and Alioski in the second-half proved pivotal for Leeds as yet against Heckingbottom made substitutions that turned the game on it’s head.
Saiz returned from a six-game ban to feed the ball into Alioski, who was put one-on-on with Scott Carson, who saved the initial shot only for the Macedonian international to head home the rebound.
Palmer was also introduced off the bench in the second half, and his late goal managed to rescue a point for Derby.
