However, on Saturday’s showing, starting at centre back, he demonstrated that it does not matter where Pochettino plays him, he can perform.
Yes, he was caught out for Anthony Martial’s strike but it was the only time that any of United’s players got the better of him as he put in a dominant performance.
Davinson Sanchez was dropped to make place for Dier at the back and on this display it seems like a wise move.
