In the away leg Mauricio Pochettino sprung a surprise by starting Fernando Llorente alongside Harry Kane and his tactical nous worked at the Bernabeu.
He got his tactics spot on once again at Wembley, as every one of Tottenham’s players was effective against the visitors.
The likes of Kieran Trippier and Davinson Sanchez, both returning to the starting XI after missing out during Saturday’s clash against Manchester United, were impressive and it just goes to show how impressive Pochettino’s management is.
Quite possibly the biggest ever result he has secured while at Tottenham, and it was well deserved.
