Rangers title hopes all but came to an end on Sunday afternoon after falling to a 3-2 Old Firm defeat at Ibrox in the Scottish Premiership.

Graeme Murty’s side twice took the lead through goals from Josh Windass and Daniel Candeias but were pegged back through Tom Rogic and Moussa Dembele before substitute Odsonne Edouard fired the Hoops into the lead.

The defeat leaves the Light Blues nine points behind their bitter rivals after playing a game more and would now need a remarkable collapse from Brendan Rodgers’ side to see them fail to lift a seventh successive Scottish Premiership title.

Despite the Gers’ league challenge now looking over, the Light Blues have defied expectations since Murty took the reins in October with the Light Blues sitting fourth in the league table.

The Gers had won nine of their ten games since the winter break but the defeat at the hands of their bitter rivals will be a setback for the Light Blues.

The Ibrox giants will now turn their attentions to next month’s Old Firm Scottish Cup semi-final at Hampden as they try to end their seven-year wait for a major trophy.
