Man City players such as Tijjani Reijnders shared a response to Josko Gvardiol’s message to supporters after his return to the line-up

Man City beat bitter rivals Man United in the Manchester derby on 14 September in a 3-0 victory on 14 September.

Erling Haaland had a spectacular performance against United again as he scored a brace and matched club legend Sergio Aguero’s record for the most derby goals with eight.

As for Gvardiol, he returned to training for Man City earlier last week after not featuring in the first three games.

The Croatian defender was thrown straight into Guardiola’s line-up following several injuries and helped the side to a clean sheet.

Now, his teammates reacted to his message on social media following his post to the supporters as they celebrated his comeback.

Josko Gvardiol returns to Man City line-up in derby win

Gvardiol was in high spirits on Instagram after making a return to the line-up following his injury and said “Manchester is blue!”

His teammates shared a reaction with Reijnders, commenting with “Brate” with a fire emoji. Ruben Dias, Omar Marmoush and former players Jack Grealish and Ederson also reacted by liking the post.

Pep Guardiola’s side have faced numerous injuries since the start of the season, with John Stones recovering from a muscle strain, Mateo Kovacic suffering a calf injury and Rayan Cherki out for several weeks with a thigh problem.

However, the Croatian’s return is a welcome boost as Gvardiol was a standout performer in defence for the club last term, despite a frustrating season for the club overall.

Now, he’s back in the line-up with an impressive performance alongside Ruben Dias, as the side now prepares for a busy few weeks.

Man City face Man United competition for Denzel Dumfries

Meanwhile, the City hierarchy are continuing to look ahead for improvements in defence, with the side targeting Denzel Dumfries as a potential right-back addition.

However, Football Insider revealed Man United are also targeting Dumfries as they also want to bolster their own defensive options.

Man City have also been linked with Tino Livramento, who appears as a younger alternative to 29-year-old Dumfries, but the side may be forced into a decision quickly if their rivals make a move.
