Tim Sherwood: I have a theory why Tottenham emerging star is so special

Tim Sherwood believes Dele Alli is a “top draw” player because the Tottenham ace was playing men’s football at a young age.
The 20-year-old midfielder is regarded as one of the emerging stars of English football on the back of two outstanding seasons in the first team.
Alli moved to Spurs from League One outfit MK Dons in 2015 and he helped his team reach the Champions League in his debut season.
That resulted in him winning the PFA Young Player of the Year award on top of earning a call-up to the England team.
Former Spurs boss, Sherwood pulled no punches when offering his thoughts on Alli and why he is better than others.

“Dele is top drawer, top, top drawer,” Sherwood told BeIN Sports, as posted by a Football Youtube channel. “I have got a theory about why Dele is so good and I tell academy managers all over the country that the boy is good because he was out there playing men’s football at the age of 16, in League One at MK Dons.
“That is why he is so good, he’s not having his backside wiped at an academy getting spoilt every day for five years playing boys football winning youth cups, who cares? No one cares.
“He’s out there, he’s learning on the coal face, he’s a top player and he has got that little devil in him. But, he wouldn’t have that if he was pampered at an academy.”
Alli’s rise from League One to the Premier League has been remarkable, including his ability to constantly find the back of the net despite not playing as a striker.
During his time at MK Dons, Alli scored 24 goals in 88 appearances for the club, added with 15 assists.
By contrast, at Spurs, he has found the back of the net on 25 occasions in all competitions, including providing 18 assists in 83 games.
This season, his goalscoring form has been even more incredible with the England man notching up an impressive 13 goals in 26 Premier League games.
To put it into context, he has scored one more than Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero who is regarded as one of the best players in world football.
