Tim Sherwood: This is what Pochettino has taken on from my time at Tottenham
By Amir Mir
Former Tottenham manager Tim Sherwood believes Mauricio Pochettino has taken on his philosophy of giving young players the opportunity at the club.
The former Southampton boss replaced Sherwood at White Hart Lane during the summer of 2014.
The Argentine has guided his team to Europe, with a relatively young squad added with the fact that he has also given a chance to a number of academy players during that period.
During Sherwood’s brief spell at the club, he most notably gave a debut to unknown striker Harry Kane, who is now one of the club’s key players.
Kane worked with Sherwood while he was coach of the development squad where he helped him through to the senior team despite others questioning his ability.

Former Aston Villa manager Sherwood offered his thoughts on his replacement at White Hart Lane and what others areas Pochettinio has impressed him in.
“I was so pleased I left Tottenham and that they employed a manager who was willing to give the kids the opportunity as well,” Sherwood told Goals on Sunday, which aired on Sky Sports One
“Pochettino has taken that on. He has obviously bought well in the transfer market. The likes of Son, Alderweireld, Wanyama, Dele Alli and Dier. These are crucial players for that team now. They play to a great format and philosophy. All credit to them.”
Tottenham are on course to securing back-to-back Champions League places as they are currently four points off leaders Chelsea in the table.
Pochettino has given the likes of Harry Winks, Cameron Carter-Vickers and Josh Onomah the chance from the academy this term.
Additionally, he has also helped academy product Danny Rose become one of the most feared full-backs in the league and helped guide Kane to being one of the best finishers in the country.
Not forgetting, adding the likes of Dele Alli and Eric Dier to his ranks as they are now important players in his team.
