Newcastle United playmaker Matt Ritchie has revealed that the team are looking to build on their great start to the new campaign and claimed that there is a “positive vibe around the place”.
The Magpies registered their third consecutive Premier League victory on the weekend after beating Stoke City 2-1 at St James’ Park.
Summer signing Christian Atsu and club captain Jamaal Lascelles provided the goals on the day and Newcastle now find themselves in the Champions League places, one point behind current Premier League champions Chelsea.
Speaking to the Chronicle after the match, Ritchie has urged his teammates to keep their feet on the ground in order to maintain their fine form.
“It’s time to make new memories,” he said.

“You are as only as good as your last game and we are as good as we played in the Premier League on Saturday.
“We will build on that for the minute and there is a positive vibe around the place.
“We need to keep that and the only way we do that is through grit, determination and hard work.
“If you take your foot off the gas you will soon start getting beat and dropping points.
“We need to make sure that we keep getting better and when you are doing well it’s the time to stay focused and continue to work hard.
“That is the message the manager will give for sure and likewise all the players.”
The Scotland international has been one of the standout performers in the first-team this season, contributing with a total of four assists in the Premier League with two of them coming against Stoke on Saturday afternoon.
Ritchie was integral in helping the Magpies achieve automatic promotion back to the English top-flight last season, notching up 16 goals and 10 assists in all competitions.
The attacking midfielder will be hopeful that he can open his goalscoring account this season when Newcastle travel to Amex Stadium to face Brighton on the weekend.
