‘Time to go’ – Liverpool fans explode at Ibrahima Konate after latest contract admission
Liverpool supporters are ready for Ibrahima Konate to leave following his latest quotes away from Anfield during the international break.
Football Insider understands that Liverpool fear Konate could already be close to a new deal away from Merseyside, as the centre-half continues to be linked with a move across Europe.
Trent Alexander-Arnold joined Real Madrid on a free transfer in the summer, sparking fury amongst the fanbase, before being booed upon his Anfield return when the two sides met in the Champions League.
Konate could suffer exactly the same fate next season, should he not put pen to paper on a new deal with the Reds, but fans clearly believe that is unlikely, especially after his recent public comments.

Ibrahima Konate continues to frustrate the Liverpool supporters
Going viral on social media, the Frenchman spoke about his contract situation, saying: “Some of the things that I read, I’m like ‘oh la la’, that puts me in a tight spot with Liverpool fans, and they don’t even know all the ins and outs.”
That has really rustled some feathers ahead of his return to Anfield, with multiple fans suggesting that now is the time for Konate to find a new club.
Many fans have compared the current situation to Alexander-Arnold’s last few months at the club, and more and more are preparing themselves for exactly the same exit, either in January or the summer.
- @cerealhater69: “Has this guy ever said, ‘I want to stay’ once during this whole situation?”
- @ovisirius: “He’s absolutely gone.”
- @Evsg8: “He’s just not worth the money he wants…”
Arne Slot has refused to comment on Konate’s contract situation
Speaking back in October, Arne Slot was quizzed on Konate’s current situation, saying: “This is the last question that I was expecting. My focus is completely on getting Liverpool back to winning ways.
“That is my first answer and my second answer, contract talks, if they are even there, we never speak about this here. Let us first start to win again, that is my main focus.”
None of those comments will drive confidence into supporters ahead of the upcoming transfer windows, and with Konate edging closer to an exit, the club need to be searching for a replacement.
Marc Guehi would have been the perfect signing, but after Crystal Palace pulled out at the 11th hour, the Reds are left wandering who will thrive alongside Virgil van Dijk.
