Timothy Castagne has already warned Fulham over appointment of potential Marco Silva replacement

Fulham might think twice about replacing Marco Silva after what Timothy Castagne has previously said about his potential successor.

Football Insider understands that Silva is debating walking away from Fulham as rumours intensify around him possibly being sacked this season, with the Cottagers 15th in the Premier League table.

Rodrigo Muniz’s surgery update is another blow, joining Antonee Robinson on the treatment table, while Sasa Lukic is suspended for too many yellow cards, and it is difficult to see where points are coming from.

With just three league wins on the board, there is a massive divide over whether Fulham should be increasing their search for a new manager or keep the current one, with a new deal already on the table.

Castagne is likely to be in the camp of keeping Silva at Craven Cottage.

Marco Silva could be running out of time as Fulham boss

Although the Belgian full-back is fighting for his spot in the starting lineup, going up against Kenny Tete, it is healthy competition, which should make both better players this season.

However, something just isn’t clicking for the Cottagers, hence why there are rumours of Silva potentially being sacked by Fulham, but there is likely more than meets the eye in West London.

Nonetheless, Castagne already appears to have made his feelings known about the hiring of one of the frontrunners to take the 48-year-old’s job this season.

After resigning from Celtic, Fulham are keeping tabs on Brendan Rodgers, with the Northern Irishman currently without a job, but not all players are likely to be on board with this.

Timothy Castagne and Brendan Rodgers have a history

During their time together at Leicester City, Castagne openly criticised the manager while away on international duty, and that is never a good sign, even if it was years ago.

Speaking to Le Soir back in 2021, the full-back said: “We are making mistakes, and that impacts our confidence. I remember a match against Crystal Palace where we were winning 2-0.

“We decided to stop the opponent for a whole half, but 45 minutes without really playing is long,” and while it does not seem like much, openly criticising his manager in public came easily to him.

Of course, Rodgers will have changed his tactics since then, and Castagne will have matured, but this small incident should not be ignored if Fulham are desperate for a new manager.
